Loan Manipulation
Question: Discuss about the Loan Manipulation. Answer: Loan manipulation Manipulation is the process of deflating or inflating the prices of given securities artificially. Loan manipulation is thereby defined as the act of the loan value and its interest to suit the banks need. Manipulation is in many cases illegal (Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, 2000). It is mostly done by the small banks or lenders due to their ability not to be closely watched and low visibility in the market. How loans are calculated in Islamic Dubai Bank The Holy Qur'an prohibits setting interest on the money loan. It is critical to recognize certain fundamental principles of Islamic banking on which Islamic finance is based. The Shar'ah is based on Quranic commandments as established in the Quran and in the terms and works of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).Islamic Dubai Bank management outlaws the riba and there is consensus among economists who profess Islamic faith that the riba is not limited to usury which also includes interests. The Holy book Quran is clear about the banning of riba, which is sometime termed as undue interest: "Believers: fear God and renounce the unpaid proceeds of usury, if you are believers" (Sacred Qur'an, 2 : 278). Any default payment above the actual principal amount is prohibited. Dubai Islamic Bank allows only one kind of loan, and this is known as qard-al-hsan (literally, good loan) in which the bank charges no interest on the borrowed money. Traditional Muslim jurisconsults have built this principle so strictly that any indirect benefits are also prohibited. Loan manipulations history and effects United Arab Emirates financial institutions like Dubai Islamic Bank are facing a new wave of demands that could leave in an anecdote the legal battle waged during the last years by the clauses soil in the interest rates of the mortgage loans. More than a hundred citizens have initiated legal proceedings with several law firms to sue Dubai banks for the effect that would have had the manipulation of the loan processes - reference to which most of the mortgages in our country are linked - in the cost of its mortgages, explained to, lawyer who in 2011 prompted an investigation to determine if the indicator was being calculated according to bank and financial institutions legislation(Abu Dhabi in the UAE, n.d.).More than a hundred citizens have taken legal action against the bank for manipulating the loan processes and interest. Many of the attorneys have succeeded in confirming for the first time that the manipulation of the index affects individuals and companies. Door to interest rebates, which have been mproperly collected according to (Alhosani, n.d.). The ruling, however, does not set the amount of compensation, which has been appealed earlier this month by Dubai Banks, which inherited the mortgage loan from Barclays, after the acquisition of many retail business, and by the Own applicant. It requires the annulment or substitution of 0% of the variable interest portion of the loan, "as a result of an abusive practice (manipulation) and because it is impossible to determine what was the correct data, if extracted from the operation of a Real market, not based on simple estimates of banks (Bayraktar Wang, 2006).In Dubai, 4 million mortgages were signed between 2005 and 2008, a period in which manipulation has been proven Beyond the aforementioned lawsuit, in 2015 and 2016, justice has dismissed four similar lawsuits against several banks in united arab emirates for loan manipulation including the Dubai Islamic bank. They have been appealed by the applicants.Currently, more than 20 lawsuits have been lodged for abusive practices involving the manipulation of the loan processes in real terms (Brixi, Lust, Woolcock, 2015). Euribor is a daily index that indicates the average interest rate at which banks lend money to the interbank market. It is calculated by crossing the data of the main entities operating in the country and internationally owned companies, which do not include popular rates given. This implies that if the claims against the medium-sized banks thrived, they could claim the big bank to assume its responsibility(Bayraktar Wang, 2006). To date, the United Arab Emirates has fined eight financial institutions for manipulating the index between September 2005 and May 2008. In these four years, more than four million mortgages were signed in united Arab emirates, most linked to the evolution of the Dubai points out that any person affected is entitled to sue (Brixi, Lust, Woolcock, 2015). According to estimates of the bank manipulation, platform driven to inform the mortgaged on how to initiate legal action, if taken as a reference, exclusively to the rates given. If, as advocated by the lawyer, the loan interest is suppressed during the life of the loan, the owner of the house should receive between 50,000 and 60,000 (Faculty Loan Repayment Program, 2002). The institution said in a statement the difficulty of quantifying the volume of profits obtained by banks for this practice, as well as the economic damage of individuals and companies with loans linked to this index. In 2013, being part of a cartel agreed to modify the Euribor. An agreement was reached with the top five banks, who paid 825 million. In total, the bank has had to face 1.310 million for this malpractice(Hull, 2015). The Commission acknowledged in the note in which it issued the latest fine that any person or company affected by this type of anticompetitive behavior is entitled to bring the corresponding complaint to the courts of any Member State to compensate for possible damages. Data collection and methodology There are cases where programs for collecting data on banks cannot be implemented on a regular basis due to operational limitations. Under these circumstances, different alternative approaches can be taken to assess loans (Garci?aMarti?nez, Santos, Toure?, Flores, n.d.). Data Sources Capture: at the level at which loans are manipulated. Market: any situation in which loan is transferred commercially. It may include the fish auction at the port, the product transaction (secondary market) between distributors, processing plants and the consumer market (Low, 2002). Consumers: level at which products are finally consumed. More than a hundred citizens have initiated legal proceedings with several law firms to sue Dubai banks for the effect that would have had the manipulation of the loan processes - reference to which most of the mortgages in our country are linked - in the cost of its mortgages, explained to, lawyer who in 2011 prompted an investigation to determine if the indicator was being calculated according to bank and financial institutions legislation (Salinger, n.d.). The problem of fiscal planning - in which the design of the transfer pricing policy is framed - is that its objective is to create artificially elaborated products that aim at tax evasion and avoidance, providing a tax haven to taxpayers, and Thus achieving the minimization of the tax through the manipulation of their business activities. The collection of data for management purposes should be done with sufficient frequency. For example, data for population monitoring should be collected constantly, while household data can be collected at much longer intervals. These mechanisms completely distort the economic motivations, to the point that ends up paying, not so much to who produces each thing, or to the value added by each entity of the group - something difficult to calculate when prices have suffered distortions -, but to the company of the group Which registers assets, functions and risks in its name (Terterov, 2006). Questionnares on loan manupilation in Dubai( UAE) What type of a loan is this? Long term or short term Interest free of marginal interest How is the loan process beneficial to the loanee? Do you yhink there is loan manipulation on the loan facility given? How long does it take to repay the loan and would you be willing to reduce the duration or increase it? Does Islamic banking benefit you with its facilities? What are the benefits of the loan? Does the bank in question benefit from this loan facility? Who should reign in on loan manupilators? Central banks of Dubai? or The court systems? What is the maximum or minimum punishment on loan manipulators? Is it prudent to manipulate a loan facility for the benefit of the loanee? As a consequence, multinational groups are able to pay a lower effective rate than other firms in the same sector pay. Also, economic groups that exploit public concessions may also be using these mechanisms. Although the manipulation of transfer prices usually has as its main purpose fiscal avoidance; It also has implications for the diversion of profits and illicit financial flows to other jurisdictions, as it is possible to transfer assets abroad as if they were part of normal business activities, sometimes circumventing exchange restrictions through legal mechanisms that Make possible the payments abroad in the form of remuneration for intra-group transactions(Terterov, 2006). Therefore, the use of these mechanisms not only ends up increasing inequalities in countries like United Arab Emirates, but also between developed and developing countries in general. For these reasons, in this work we will make a brief review of the normative and conceptual framework linked to transfer prices; A presentation of the problems involved in the valuation of intra-group transactions in the current regulatory framework; And a schematization of transfer pricing structures used for tax evasion and avoidance and profit diversion. Normative and Conceptual Framework The question of the valuation of intra-group transactions was already worrying the members of the United Arab Emirates business league. From this, in 1943 the first rule to solve cases of transfer prices, which exclusively affected commodity issues, arose, and remained more or less standing until the year 2003. According to estimates of the bank manipulation, platform driven to inform the mortgaged on how to initiate legal action, if taken as a reference, exclusively to the rates given. If, as advocated by the lawyer, the loan interest is suppressed during the life of the loan, the owner of the house should receive between 50,000 and 60,000. The institution said in a statement the difficulty of quantifying the volume of profits obtained by banks for this practice, as well as the economic damage of individuals and companies with loans linked to this index. In a research study, the validity of the results depends, among other aspects, on the quality of the data collected. This in turn depends onA good definition of the variables, as well as their measurement scales. k Sources of information and measuring instruments. The sources of information must be reliable and complete, so that, although it will be more expensive and require more effort, we must collect whenever we can the data directly (primary data), although sometimes we will not be more remedied or more profitable, Even at the risk of possible bias, than using secondary data sources. As for the instruments of measurement, we must use known instruments that are known to generate valid and reliable (precise) measures. If information is collected through questionnaires, it is necessary to take measures to obtain good statements, order of questions, etc. Whenever possible, use previously validated questionnaires. Whether the validation of a questionnaire constitutes a research proje ct of enormous complexity: validation of the construct, content and criteria (The SBA's loan management and accounting system, n.d.). We will also have to define the quality control systems that will be performed, before, during and after the data collection. To emphasize the importance of this aspect, often forgotten or considered secondary, has been coined a term like GIGO, initials of Garbage In, Garbage Out, to refer to the fact that if the computer is put trash , Do not expect the results of any analysis, however sophisticated, to be anything but rubbish. The protocol of the research project should include: List of variables Operational definition of the variables and their measurement scales. Source of data and Ways to Collect Data Data will be from gotten fromInstruments of measurement, calibration, sensitivity, specificity, precision, etc.Description of the field work of collection of data, instruction of the people who collect them, how to ensure the homogeneity of data collection, etc. Description of the methods we will use to ensure the quality of the data: before, during and after. The size of a population is given by the number of elements that compose it. Unit of analysis: this is the object for which information is sought. Many times we refer to units of analysis with the name of elements. In statistics, an element or unit of analysis may be something with real existence, such as a car or house, or something more abstract like temperature or a time interval. Given this definition, population can be redefined as the set of units of analysis. Sample: is a subset of units of analysis of a given population, intended to provide information about the population. For this subset of units of analysis to be of statistical utility, certain requirements must meet in the selection of the elements. The choice among the many methods of collecting data on this area depends on the variables to be measured, the source and the resources available. In many cases, there is a natural way of collecting concrete variables. There are cases where programs for collecting data on the industry can not be implemented on a regular basis due to operational limitations. Links between Variables, Sources and Methods The links between variables, sources and methods are collected in three tables. These tables are intended to provide guidance in selecting methods and sources of collection and designing a data collection system. The tables also provide some insight into what types of data can be collected simultaneously from the same source using the same method. methods for summarizing measured or observed data. When it comes to qualitative variables where the categories are determined, the only thing to do is to count the number of cases belonging to each category and normalize in relation to the total number of cases, calculating a proportion, a percentage or a ratio. However, when it comes to quantitative variables, the summary of the data consists of organizing tables that synthesize the original data and are called frequency distributions.Frequency: is the number of times that each value of the variable is presented(Bayraktar Wang, 2006). 1.The researcher may have less control of the session, compared to the one he would have with a single interviewee. It needs to stimulate the conversation process in all the participants and that they hear each other, a task that is not easy. 2. The data obtained are difficult to analyze. The results have to be interpreted within the context in which they occur. Sometimes participants often modify their individual postures after interacting with others. 3. The technique requires carefully trained interviewers. 4. Groups can vary considerably. Each focus group may have unique characteristics; Some may become apathetic, other stimulants, others show resistance, etc. To avoid as much as possible, it is recommended that participants be selected with a diversity of experience and personal characteristics. Questions have to be stimulating for people to respond. They agree on semi-open questions, because without suggesting answers, the interviewer retains the purpose of the focus group. So me examples are: What do you think about ? How did they feel before ? What do you suggest to improve ?; When the environment is emotionally charged and the search for information can generate or intensify conflicts 2. When the researcher has no group control or has lost it over the group 3. When statistical projections are needed 4. When other methodologies can produce higher quality of information. loan Manipulation Graph in Commercial Banks in Dubai An everyday issue that tends to be problematic for many is the proper handling of bank accounts. To handle them intelligently is not required to be an expert in finance, but simply pay attention to all the basics. Here are a few steps that can help you manage your accounts in the best way possible. To apply these tips with the greatest effectiveness, you can buy a notebook in which these data are noted and always kept close at hand. recommendations and conclusion Know the accounts. The first thing to do is to know how many accounts we have, what banks they are, what kind they are (credit, debit, checking account, savings, investment, etc.) and how much money we have in them. At this point it is convenient to review the contract for each of the accounts. It specifies the conditions of the services and clauses that indicate what is entitled, and what is required. Review the statements(Brixi, Lust, Woolcock, 2015). Whether you receive your printed statement or you check it via the inte rnet, it is essential to be aware of the operations and write down and keep receipts of what we spend or pay. If you have access to your online statement, we recommend checking it more than once a month, to better control your expenses. If we do this, we will know exactly what we are paying for and there will be no surprises. Be cautious. Security is one of the fundamental points in the good management of bank accounts. Customers must take good care of their passwords, do not share them or carry them with you in the wallet or purse. When you make a payment do not lose sight of your card and try to keep them well to avoid misplacement. Using Internet banking. At present, banks offer a lot of online services for their account-holders. You can perform operations such as "balance inquiry", "cash transfer", "statement of account" and miscellaneous payments. Take advantage of these services, they will help you to make transactions easier and more efficiently. Once we know our accounts well and know what they offer us and what they ask for in return, we can have a bigger picture that will allow us to know if they are convenient or not(Brixi, Lust, Woolcock, 2015). We will know how well we are tapping our resources and where our money is.At this point it is advisable to have a savings account with liquid funds available for any eventuality, as well as (if possible) an investment account that allows us to mobilize the assets and make them grow.Having everything in order we will understand better the operations month by month and in case of a wrong charge, we will be easier to detect it to make the opportune clarification. The E-learning Activity Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment
Question: List the key Ideas you have extracted from the prescribed E-learning activity. Answers: Introduction Business strategy is the process of creating a plan in order to achieve an objective (Henry, 2011).Business model is the conceptualisation of the core architecture of all activities of business(Wikstrm, 2016). A good business model and proper strategy can help a business to create competitive advantage. Ideas generated from the e-learning activity week 3 Business strategy is a complex issue(Bamford West, 2012). Most business organisations confuse goals with business strategies. They formulate goals for example, to become a low cost provider and remain in misguided belief that they have formulated a strategy. Strategy can be considered as art of war where the goal is to win. Strategy is to bring out own strengths against the weaknesses of the competitor to win over the customer(Henry, 2011). For a strategy to succeed, various departments like marketing, sales and human resources have to work together. In strategy formulation the role of the managing director or the CEO is of chief importance. The CEO provides direction to strategic formulation through a vision(Hill Jones, 2012). It is the CEOs job to coordinate the whole organisation into a direction of achievement of strategy. A good strategy gives a clear and concise view of four key issues. These are the market base, the competitive advantage like differentiation, cost or image, resources at the disposal of the organisation and the capability to use them and sustenance of competitive advantage(Thompson, 2010). In addition to defining what the firm must do, a good strategy also formulates what the business should not do .Therefore, strategy is about planning the actions necessary to attain goals which are aimed at competitive advantage. Application of above ideas an organisation The four core issues of strategy formulation can be applied to a chosen organisation. For example, Dominos is one of the largest fast food pizza chains in the world(Domino's, 2017). Its objective is to give good quality pizza for low price. Growing in the business of fast food is another objective(Domino's, 2017). Consequently, based on these ideas a strategy can be formulated by answering the four key questions of creating a strategy. First key question is regarding the market base. Market for Dominos comprises of young students and professionals. The second key issue is the competitive advantage. Dominos has ruled the pizza market because of its unique master franchisee model. The firm has tied up with one restaurant chain in each region and created a master franchisee. The master franchisee has to work according to standard specified by Dominos and has to share a part of the profit with the firm(Domino's, 2017) . The third key issue is the resources and capability. Dominos has an excellent training methodology for its staff(Domino's, 2017). Additionally, it has a huge brand name and reputation which can help the firm in generating new customer base. Dominos needs to sustain its competitive advantage with marketing campaigns and customer service and it will be able to stay ahead of the competitors(Ferrel, 2012). Hence, a clear strategy for Dominos would include using its resources like brand name to serve the customer at lower cost through use of marketing in order to stay ahead of the competition. Ideas generates from e-learning activity week 4 The business world has seen many successful companies like Nokia failing as they failed to recognise the need for radical changes(Wikstrm, 2016).Current success need not mean future success. Innovation can lead to future success as it leads to higher customer value(DeFillippi, 2014). Innovation need not be a completely new idea. It can be creative adaptation. Big success in innovative business need not require big resources and innovation need not be based on technology; it can be based on business model(Wikstrm, 2016). Business modal innovation changes two of the four key issues of business. These issues are, target customer, product offered, value proposition and revenue generation(Wikstrm, 2016). Most business model innovations are creative adaptations of existing model. For example, many companies like HP adapted the razer and blade business model of Gillette where the main product was cheap but the refill was expensive(Gassmann, et al., 2014). Innovation in any industry can be b rought about by following four steps. In identification the current business model is assessed. Under this the four core issues stated above are identified. In ideation this business model is compared to other innovative business models. Under integration all four issue are assessed with the new business model chosen. Finally, the new business model is implemented after a pilot study(Gassmann, et al., 2014). Therefore, by undertaking an innovative business model a firm can tap new business opportunities. Application of above ideas to an organisation Adapting an innovative business model can help create new business opportunities and sustenance of a firm(Wikstrm, 2016). The concept of adaptive business model innovation can be applied to Marks and Spence (MS). MS is a UK based highly reputed apparels retail chain with stores across the globe(Marks Spencer, 2017) MS procures its products from suppliers and sells to the customers through traditional methods of retail stores (Marks Spencer, 2017). Its current business model is successful. The target is high end customers. The product offered is clothes of high quality. Value proposition is quality and revenue generated is high(Marks Spencer, 2017). However, current success need not mean future success and for sustained success a firm needs to tap new opportunities (Gassmann, et al., 2014). MS can creatively adapt the e-commerce business model of Dell and provide its products through online ordering(Dell, 2017). MS can use an adaptive version and use online channel but need not sel l made to order. This will increase the customer base of MS as many people now want to purchase from the comfort of their home(Wikstrm, 2016). Lower price can be added as a value proposition as this model cuts middle man costs. It can lead to high revenue generation due to increase in customer base(Wikstrm, 2016). MS is already a reputed brand name. Hence, if it adapts this new business model there are chances of long term sustenance. Conclusion A Good strategy can help a firm in creating customer value and competitive advantage. An innovative business model can help the firm in tapping new opportunities. Therefore, a firm needs to develop a sound strategy and a good business model. References Bamford, C. E. West, P. G., (2012) Strategic Management : value creation, sustanability, and performance. The American Dream Essay Example For Students
The American Dream Essay The American Dream has eventually become an old concept which descends from the time with Henry Ford and Rockefeller and Carnegie who where among the very first to epitomize The American Dream. Way back in the 1870s as the oil industry and the development of motor engines started growing those people saw an opportunity in the industry and managed to benefit of it. Later on they were known as the personification of the American Dream. The fact that they started from scratch and became successful has certainly been the major reason that they have acquired that status and started the concept The American Dream. We will write a custom essay on The American Dream specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now There are many definitions of the American Dream, and they have certainly changed as the time has passed the recent two centuries. Some might mean that the American Dream is to become extremely rich, famous and powerful, criteria only the fewest can achieve. On the other hand many would say that the American Dream simply is to establish a family with wife, children who can go to school and a decent residence. However some might put in further criteria which would be that you have to start out by very poor circumstances. So as you probably had already figured, the definition does change indeed depending on whom you ask and where you ask. Nevertheless the inventor of the particular meaning of the phrase The American Dream was the American author Horatio Alger Jr. 1832-1899 who wrote rag-to-riches stories in several dime novels in which he described in fictive progresses how boys managed to achieve the American Dream by determination and courage. By then his novels encouraged many people to start working hard in order to chase that dream. The Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson in 1776 was the very first step to a huge Liberal society in America and all the spirit and foundation of The United States lies within that declaration. The Declaration was the step to liberalism, individualism, justice and liberty in America and finally the American Dream as well as you can draw many similarities between those two ideas. Both state that every man is to be born equal and every man should have the opportunity to achieve whatever he desires, and that our destinies lie within our own hands. As there are many definitions of the American Dream it is hard to state what really epitomizes it. Personally I would say you have achieved it when you have done something unique for instance in order to help other people. Unlike those Americans who think that the persons with the biggest fortunes like Oprah Winfrey or Bill Gates epitomize it, I would rather say that persons like Martha Stewart, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King have fulfilled as they have done some exceptional for people in need which has become historic. Further wise I would add that personal happiness is the most important. There might be a thin line between wealth and happiness but not in all cases. Time after time it has been proven as success and large bank accounts have lead to drug abuses, loneliness, isolation and even death in some cases. According to me that is a clear indication that money doesnt necessarily equal to happiness. So other factors are required to fulfill the dream. The most obvious would be a social and secure life with relatives and friends as well. Is The American Dream good? Many people would say that the American dream is good or in fact necessary for America. It gives the citizens a great opportunity to pursuit something in life and attempt to achieve something. Even the poorest children can be able to work their way out in various ghettos in this liberal country. .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .postImageUrl , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:hover , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:visited , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:active { border:0!important; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:active , .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59 .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf6592ebda479d6b7916be17433534a59:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Almond Tree By Stallworthy EssayIn the middle of the dark tunnel the poor can see brightness at the end of the tunnel. The hope of achieve something despite the poor conditions gives the poor peoples lives a purpose, a reason not to give up. Nevertheless many people disagree upon the American Dream, and its values. Certain individuals such as writer Arthur Miller mean that there are too many paradoxes in the American Dream and that it basically gives a false hope of glory. Further wise they believe that the American Dream has equalled to a material greed among the Americans. In order to earn much money for cars etc. eople work most of the day and therefore the focus is rem oved from the family to the work and the pay check. Another paradox is the fact that college definitely isnt cheap. And the bachelor degree which you are given at the college graduation is necessary for many job fields. So if you come from a poor family it means that you cannot afford to attend college and that interferes with the declaration of independence which says that all people are given the same opportunities when they are born. So you cannot attend a college without paying large sums of money or carrying a scholarship. A further example is discrimination. If you dont have the right look, height or skin colour it could be difficult to hold a CEO or another leader position. The Result of The American Dream However the American Dream has not just encouraged Americans to fulfil it. Also millions of Europeans and South Americans have been tempted by the dream in The Land of the Opportunities. Therefore America has become the largest multi ethnical country which consists of all religions and races. Already after the Potato Famine tens of thousands went to America in particular from Ireland. So America has always been an alternative or an escape, an opportunity to start a new life for South Americans as well as Europeans for instance after a life with poverty and war. And a bit chocking fact according to myself is that the American borders are wide open and they dont even attempt to keep the immigrants out of their which many other countries do. So does this just explain a great hospitality or just carelessness as they actually do hesitate to offer financial contributions? So despite a lacking welfare system compared to Europe many people do choose to try their luck in America. And some people do manage to integrate themselves in USA, and some even manage to fulfil the American Dream, Danes as well, but the fact remains that most of the immigrants, particularly immigrants from Mexico end up in the gutter and in worst cases in jail as a due to crimes which must be committed because of a lacking or non-existing income. Many Americans would claim that they have a healthy and strong welfare state. But it is yet no secret that it consists of 2 million homeless people and has the highest imprison rate per citizen in the world. And there is no empathy from the wealthy Americans or the state. As a matter of fact the American Dream is a nice tool for the rich upper-class people and politicians to blame the poor and refuse to help them with the reason that they have had their chance to become something and if you have blown your chance then it is just bad luck. Conclusion It is claimed that everybody can achieve the American Dream. But as I have already been through there are many factors that could prevent you from achieving it. However I do sympathize with the idea of the American Dream, but it is dangerous because it is overrated and makes people think irrational. And to a certain extent I do agree with the liberal point of views as I support. I agree with the ideology which stands for personal freedom, the freedom to develop yourself and the freedom to be yourself. Also that we are born equal and it is up to ourselves to realize our own dreams, and that it is a pity that people in Europe can receive a welfare check from the state when they dont wish to work. .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .postImageUrl , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:hover , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:visited , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:active { border:0!important; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:active , .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4 .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u035009664ef226e3c1d7372cada764d4:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: World Literature Persuasive EssayI dont think we should support them with money to get food on the table. I think we should help them to get back on the track so that they can earn their own money, unlike in America where there wont be taking care of anybody. It is claimed that everybody can achieve the American Dream by having good ambitions and determination but I would rather say that luck is the most important factor. The American Dream is like the wheel of fortune. Would you care for a spin? The American Dream Essay Example For Students The American Dream Essay American DreamWilly Loman is a man on a mission. His purpose in life is to achieve a false sense of the American Dream, but is this what Willy Loman really wants? In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller analyzes the American Dream by portraying to us a few days in the life of a washed up salesman named Willy Loman. The American Dream is a definite goal of many people, meaning something different to everyone. Willys version is different from most people though; his is based more on being well-liked and achieving monetary successes rather than achieving something that will make him happy. Willy never becomes part of the American Dream because he never follows his true dreams and aspirations. He chooses a career that will make him money, but not much, rather than a career that he will enjoy. Willy never becomes part of the American Dream because he tries to become successful and wealthy rather than spending his life doing something that would bring him and his family joy. The American Dream is a term used to summarize the basic ideals held by the American public. Death of a Salesman focuses on this dream and analyses the dreams significance in the American social order. The basic principal behind the American Dream is the belief that if people have an aspiration and they work for it they will achieve their dreams. Furthermore, what lies at the heart of the American Dream is the desire to achieve wealth and power based on ones looks and appearance rather than the value and quality of their work. The American Dream is supposedly what everyone wants to end up with; a family, a house, a car and a well paying job. The problem is that not everyone wants these things. People all over the world desire to immigrate to America because they have heard of this American Dream and they want to be a part of a country that makes it seem so easy to make a fortune. The problem with this dream is the theory at the basis of it; the fact that success is not assured, but if people work for their dreams they will eventually achieve them. People can work their entire lives thinking that they are contributing to humanity when in fact they are not. They believe that as long as they put something into civilization, at the end of their lives they will receive something in return. Many times this is simply not the way things work out. If people work their entire lives to achieve something that they can enjoy at the end of their life, they will miss the entire journey in between. The American Dream is the basis of American culture although some ideals at the heart of it seem incorrect. Willy Lomans dream is an adaptation of the American Dream. Willy believes that the only things that are important in life are the successes that he achieved and the amount of friends that he made. This is easily illustrated when Willy says Its who you know and the smile on your face! and thats the wonder, the wonder of this country, that a man can end with diamonds here on the basis of being liked! (Movie). Success is an important part of the American dream, but Willy puts too much importance on the need to achieve success. He neglects the needs of his family and chooses to remain in the mindset that as long as he is well liked he will achieve success. Although he has lost his ability to sell, Willy continues to believe that as long as he works hard good things will happen to him and his family. .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .postImageUrl , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:hover , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:visited , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:active { border:0!important; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:active , .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1 .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ubf8da4bda8e1f81d97b74b4e765de5f1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Photography (991 words) Essay Willys wife Linda realizes this and conveys these thoughts to her sons when she says He drives seven hundred miles, and when he gets there no one knows him anymore what goes through a mans mind, driving seven hundred miles home without earning a cent? (Movie). Willy has delusional ideas about the American Dream. Even in the end Willy still believes that the only thing Biff needs to be successful is some money to start a business. We learn this when Willy says Can you imagine that magnificence Biff with twenty thousand dollars in his pocket? (Movie). Willy thinks that as long as Biff has some money to start out with he will find it easy to become successful. Biff knows that his fathers ideas are wrong and all Biff wants is to enjoy his life and for his father to be happy. Willys dream is focused entirely on being successful and popular which in itself is wrong. Willy Loman did not become part of the American Dream because he does not follow his own dreams. Willy is not a salesman at heart, he is happiest when he is working with his hands and Willy never realizes this. After Willy dies, Biff realizes that his father should have worked out in the open, where he could truly be free. We learn this when Biff says, He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong, and furthermore when Biff says, He never knew who he was. (Movie). Willy thinks that since he can still conceivably work when he becomes eighty years old that a salesman job is the best vocation he could ever want. Throughout the play, we learn that Willy has obviously made a wrong decision about his career and the fact that he never realizes this is the tragedy in the story. Willy does not think about what he himself wants to do, he thinks more about what others have done and then wants to achieve the same heights they have. Willy is never content with just being himself; he always has to be something better. This is evident when Linda tells Willy be happy right here, right now. Why must everybody conquer the world? Youre well liked, and the boys love you (Movie). Willy never listens to his heart and because of this, he follows the wrong dream. Willy was never really a part of the American Dream. In the end, we see Willys foolishness for killing himself. Willy has too much pride to take a job from Charley and would rather end his own life than work under his friend for money. Willy thinks he is helping everyone by giving them his life insurance money but everyone would rather have him still alive than the money. Striving for his dream of becoming well liked and successful leaves Willy with nothing that will make him happy. In the end, Willys dream ends up being for Biff to achieve everything that he himself could not achieve. Willys plan backfires though when Biff chooses the opposite of what Willy wants and leaves the city to try to find out what will make him happy. In the end, Willys obsession with the American Dream is his undoing. Willy never really becomes part of the American Dream because he never understands what he needs to make himself happy. Vietnam War Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Vietnam War - Research Paper Example will become mired in other foreign affairs quagmires which again will weaken the military, economic strength and its political status within the world community. This same lesson was never learned by the long defunct Roman Empire. A similar outcome looms for America if it continues to replicate the mistake that was Vietnam. A result of justifications emanating from Cold War, anti-communism sentiments, Vietnam became the standard by which American military power limitations can be measured. Following the allied defeat of Japan in 1945, the U.S. became embroiled in a battle over military power and political ideology with the former Soviet Union that was showcased on a world-wide scale for more than four decades, the Cold War. Communism was Americaââ¬â¢s declared enemy during this era. The U.S. drew a symbolic line in the sand in Southeast Asia after the Soviets built the Berlin Wall and continued in its aspirations to dominate other Eastern European nations. The fiasco that was Viet nam triggered anti-military reactions for the majority of Americans whose subsequent response contributed to the Cold Warââ¬â¢s end. Vietnam also forced America to rethink the fundamental purpose of its military power and question the scope of its capability to force itââ¬â¢s will in foreign nations whether, for example, in the deserts of the Middle East or the jungles of Southeast Asia. In addition the U.S. was forced to question its general foreign policy viewpoint and subsequent strategies. (Hogan, 2006) ââ¬Å"U.S. foreign policy, from its abandonment of isolationism at the ending of the 19th century to its status as the sole remaining superpower, has always been centered on the promotion and conservation of its own interests and ââ¬Ëthe advancement of civilization,ââ¬â¢ the exercise of power to assert itself beyond the bounds of the American continents in ââ¬Ëthe interest of civilization and of humanityââ¬â¢ and its own selfish interests.â⬠(Olney, 2004) This re-evaluation phase lasted about 40 years, from the mid-1970ââ¬â¢s until early 2003. The U.S. enjoined the Cold War period, Vietnam War and invasion of Iraq to ostensibly spread democracy to subjugated peoples of the world (the official explanation) and with great confidence of victory. Both military conflicts offered a comparable paradigm: the capability of the U.S. to utilize its armed forces as a political, social and ideological tool is limited. indisputably, America entered Vietnam with somewhat of a arrogance assuming the North Vietnamese would bow to the powerful American military and that the South Vietnamese would gladly accept and adjust to a western nation style of democratic governance. Former U.S. national Security Advisor under President Nixon and Secretary of State (1973-1977) Henry Kissinger stated America entered Vietnam with a ââ¬Å"brash confidence in the universal applicability of Americaââ¬â¢s prescriptions.â⬠(Kissinger, 2003) The ironic epilog ue to the U.S. involvement in Vietnam is that America entered into this horrific and bloody and enduring conflict believing it to be the ââ¬Ëknight in shining armorââ¬â¢ for the South Vietnamese people. Its leaders did this without appreciating that the South Vietnamese were fighting to be free from a North Vietnamese government that symbolized the same colonialist, imperialistic ideology as did the American government. (Ignatieff, 2003) This lack of military success in Vietnam was not because the U.S. lacked fire-power. It was due to a failure to understand the opponent. Although

Acheulean hand axes - Essay Example that much research has been conducted to determine the antiquity, stratigraphic context and the associated middle Pleistocene stone tools of the Narmada man. Accordingly Mccowns discoveries can be useful to the paleoanthropologists of the 21st century. In the document one the findings is from central India in Narmada and Tapti valley. The researcher anticipated to study the prehistoric archaeological problems of the Pleistocene time. He studied the region around Narmada river and the tools found indicated the presence of man. He however discovered four main problems among other the use of infer climate model by pre- historian that seemed imperfect in India. He proceeds to japan where he has a conversation with a PhD archaeological candidate who had excavated Narmada (Kennedy and Langstroth 2013:2). They excavated yeldari dam and Purna River. In Narmada MSA materials are found in the river banks. The same materials are found between mandia and jabulpur. In Kamharabna, ESA tools were found appearing on several good and hand axes. The second document was composed of typed field notes by Mrs Shrkurkin who was among the team that had worked with McCown. The document contains several discoveries made at various points during the study. In a nutshell it is a summary of the discoveries that they had made during their survey, much of the tools discovered according to this document were MSA tools. The third document composed of a letter that McCown had written to his wife while surveying mula dam, a place where LSA tools were found. Including the elephant molar teeth (Kennedy and Langstroth 2013:7). In his discussion of the research done by McCown, the author notes that in this period only primary relative dating methods were used. However, in the 21st century more advanced dating method such as absolute dating method are used. The discovery of Acheulian tools in Narmada River or valley is an indication for the middle Pleistocene and later geological deposits in the
